Thank you for your interest in publishing a review with FIYAH Literary Magazine. We currently accept reader-submitted reviews of long-form fiction (novellas and novels) from Black and Indigenous readers. FIYAH uses a globally inclusive definition of Blackness (Black anywhere in the world), which also applies to mixed/biracial and Afro-appended people regardless of gender identity or orientation. “Indigenous” here includes Indigenous, First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and Aboriginal peoples.
The reviewed work does not have to be authored by a Black and/or Indigenous writer. The goal is to highlight Black and/or Indigenous perspectives on literature, not to limit what we are able to read. We also accept reviews of self/indie-published works, but the author of said works cannot be the author of the review.
If selected, you will be notified via email. Your review will be edited for grammar, punctuation, and clarity by our Reviews Editor, Brent Lambert, and featured in the Reviews section of FIYAH’s website. Review selections are made at the editor’s discretion, and we may decline to post reviews which contain regressive perspectives on representation of race, gender, and/or sexuality or which are authored by a person known to hold these views.
Reviews submitted through this form are not paid, but regular reviewers may be asked in the future to join FIYAH’s Review Staff for paid work. If you are looking to join the team formally, keep an eye out for staff calls on our Join The Team page.
By clicking “submit” on the form below, you acknowledge and accept these terms and conditions.
